Essence Gel Eye Liner Midnight in Paris Review

Hello everyone,
Hope you all had a fantastic and relaxing weekend. Lately I have been not been posting regularly because I really feel mentally and physically tired. I have been blogging for a while now - 2.5 years and I have never taken a break in between which has really made me exhausted. Anyhoo I am working on getting my life in order as it is not that great at the moment. I cannot just go away from blogging hence I will try to update my blog as much as I can. I shall be reviewing the Essence Gel Eye Liner Midnight in Paris  in my post today. I had got this in one of my shopping trips to Beauty Centre here in Mumbai when it was recently launched. You may check that haul here. I have used it a couple of times and I am here to tell you what I think. Read on to know more........

Price: Rs. 349/- for 3g . I had got it on a discount for lesser price. It is available across Essence counters in India.

Ingredients:
Isododecane, cyclopentasiloxane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, paraffin, mica, disteardimonium hectorite, propylene carbonate, phenoxyethanol, ci 77007 (ultramarines), ci 77499 (iron oxides), ci 77891 (titanium dioxide).

What does the brand say about the product:
Ultra-smooth gel formula allows for precise application. Apply it with the eyeliner brush. Quick-drying, long-lasting, smudge and waterproof.  Waterproof gel eyeliner for intense color expression. Draw a line with the essence gel eyeliner brush, from inner to outer eye corner. Avoid inner eye contact. keep away from children.

The gel eye liner comes in a glass pot which is transparent . It comes with a screw black lid which stays put and makes it travel friendly. Basic information is mentioned on the packaging itself. It does not come with a brush. I used the Ocean brush I reviewed on my blog a while ago you may check it out here.

The gel eye liner is black in color and  I would say pitch black. It has a creamy consistency and glides well on the eye lids. I use a fine line brush- if you do not have you can get one easily from the market or use a point 0 point  brush from your local store. Now I started using this gel eye liner nearly a year after buying, hmmm crazy me no? but then I have so many things to try, apply and test out that this one took a back seat somehow.

Anyhoo this is the first gel eye liner I have used in my whole life.Ohh yeah you heard that right. Emily Noel on Youtube raved a lot about this drugstore eye liner, hence when Essence was launched in India this product was first on my wish list. Now the thing is you need to be quick in application because it easily dries up on the lids or else second coat and there were some fallout to it. It lasts all day and is smudge and budge proof. I usually take it off with coconut oil and it takes some effort to take it off. I would recommend using it a good quality make up remover for the same. I would recommend keeping the lid closed and also it may tend to dry up in extreme cold climate. Overall it is a decent one but I would not repurchase.

The Good:
Inexpensive
Jet Black
Long lasting
Goes on smoothly on the lids
Sets to a matte finish
Decent packaging
Would last on oily eye lids too
Travel friendly packaging

The not so Good:
Sets too quickly
Tendency to flake
No brush provided
Availability is a major issue

Rating: 3.7/5

Essence Gel Eye Liner Midnight in Paris is jet black, long lasting and smudge proof. I like it but not sure if I would repurchase again as I expect something more from a gel eyeliner.

  3. Jet black is attractive but suppose you need to apply quickly. Black is the color I stay away from it further makes my eyes sunken in. Pretty bad for I have dark circles too.
