Lissome Its Simple Foundation with Tulsi Review Swatches and FOTD

Hi everyone,
Today I shall be reviewing a foundation from Lissome cosmetics.Lissome cosmetics as a brand is existent since 1999 from what I read about them. They used to even advertise on Television few years back but not any more. This brand is not so popular in the blogging world but they do have some good stuff worth checking out. The foundation I shall review is called Lissome Its Simple Foundation with Tulsi -IS 05.Let us find out more about this foundation in my review...

Website:
http://www.lissomecosmetics.com

Ingredients: nothing mentioned except that it has Tulsi.

Price: Rs.95/- for 27ml.

What does Lissome have to say about this foundation:
One wonderful foundation, many reasons to love it! Its Simple Foundation gives you make up with instant radiance, easy - blending, perfect coverage and no make up look. It contains Allantoin, an anti inflammatory ingredient that soothes inflammed skin and the natural goodness of Tulsi for an oil free, refreshing touch.

The foundation contains shea butter, a soft moisturizing natural butter that refreshes skin without oiliness. Effective sun blocks protect against sunburn, taning and darkening.Result? An instant radiant look, making your face brighter and younger over time!

It comes in 5 shades as seen in the picture-( Image courtesy: Lissome cosmetics website)

The packaging is nothing fancy just simple plain jane types. It comes in a glass bottle with a black screw cap. Hence there is no chance of leaking even if you are travelling with it. The foundation does not have a shade name and there is just a sticker as an indication of the code. The mouth of the bottle is wide and you may always end up taking more than required which is a pain. Basic kind of information is mentioned on the bottle nothing fancy. For the price this is what you get.

As checked in the picture indicative of shades IS01 is the lightest shade and IS05 the darkest. The one I have is IS05. The one I have is the darkest one according to their website. Now the problem as many of you may have experienced the SA's are never qualified for their job. I wanted a natural looking one which will not wash me out. My skin tone is fair to medium. The SA showed me this and I had no idea which shade I should choose as I was not good in chosing foundation (before i started blogging). Anyhow the shade seems ok for me not too dark and not too light.

(I am wearing the foundation in the pic above.)

The foundation is liquidy and runny so this is not meant for oily skin hands down. The mouth of the bottle is too big and it becomes a pain to use the foundation. You need to carefully take some on the back of the hand before applying on the face. Also it is a glass bottle you need to be careful.I use a foundation brush to apply it and set it with powder. It does not hide any imperfections as such just even outs the skin tone. It reminds me of Lacto Calamine Lotion  because of its Tulsi smell also does give a bit of cooling sensation. I would say consistency wise Lacto Calamine is better. Anyhow since it is liquidy it is ok to use in winters and not summers as it will just wither away in no time and will just make your face a frying pan. Lasting wise in winter it will make your T zone oily sometime after application and one will need to powder the nose often. Overall nothing great about this foundation it is just about OK.They have mentioned about SPF but not mentioned the content so I am not sure what they are talking about.

The Good:
Inexpensive.
Good quantity.
5 shades to choose from.
Goodness of Tulsi.
Evens out skin tone.

The not so Good:
Availability.
Glass bottle with a screw cap lid and wide mouth - Packaging needs to improve.
Smell may be an issue with many.
Not meant for oily skin and not long lasting.
No ingredient list.
SPF content not mentioned

Rating: 2.5/5

Overall there is nothing new about the foundation and the smell may put one off. Also there is no coverage or anything spectacular about this foundation. I would not recommend it.You may purchase it only if you have dry skin or if you are curious about it.

I hope you found my review helpful. Time and again I have comments that Lissome products are not available. Well yes I am aware of it totally. Please check the link below, it contains list of cities and places where it would be available. This is the most I could do.

  1. Foundation with Tulsi sounds interesting. But I won't buy it because I have a super-oily t-zone. Also it's not long-lasting. So, a no-no for this. Nicely reviewed. You look so fresh in the picture :)
