Gandhi Jayanti

Hey everyone.......

Today the 2nd of October marks the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi most popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi. It is observed as a national holiday in India. Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar Gujarat in the year  1869.

He studied law in London and became a barrister and later on went to South Africa to work as  a lawyer. The natives & Indians were treated very badly, Gandhiji fought for them for more than 20 years. When Gandhiji returned to India, it was ruled by the Britishers. He developed the concept of 'Satyagraha'  which means a fight for establishing the truth. He became a leader of the Indian National Congress and worked for the poor and oppressed for which he was jailed many times. He started the Quit India Movement in 1942 against the British during India's fight for independence. India finally gained Independence in the year 1947.

Gandhiji lived a simple life and urged people to use charkha to make cloth for their own use.He was fondly called as Bapu by the masses and is known as the Father of the Nation. He was shot dead on the 30th January 1948. He was an inspiration to many during his lifetime and still is. There are books, journals and there was even a movie based on his ideology titled Munnabhai MBBS.

He will always be remembered by every Indian throughout their life. Happy Birthday Gandhiji and Jai Hind!!!!!!!
